Brian graduated from Auburn University in May 2006 with a degree in Political Science and was commissioned as an Ensign into the United States Navy on the same day.
During his ten years on active duty he served on three different classes of ship, deploying twice to the Persian Gulf and once to Southeast Asia. Brian served as First Lieutenant on USS Gettysburg CG-64 (Guided Missile Cruiser), Operations Officer on USS Defender MCM-2 (Mine Countermeasures Ship), and Operations Officer on USS Arleigh Burke DDG-51 (Guided Missile Destroyer).
Brian also served on the faculty of Villanova University as an Instructor of Naval Science where he earned a nomination as Naval Service Training Command’s Instructor of the Year. While at Villanova he was honored with the “Junior Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching” for 2013. This award is presented to a faculty member who has been in a full time position for less than seven years and has developed extraordinarily effective teaching approaches. To date, he is the only non-PhD to win the award. He also earned his Master of Arts in Political Science from Villanova in 2012.
In 2015 Brian left active duty and joined the Navy Reserve. He partnered with his Uncle at Pultro Financial Management and obtained certifications as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF), Behavioral Financial Advisor (BFA), and Registered Financial Consultant (RFC). Brian also earned the “Ethics Certified” designation from the International Association of Registered Financial Planners (IARFC).
The Navy called Brian back to active duty in June 2018 where he served as a Strategic Planner in the Iran Branch at United States Central Command Headquarters in Tampa, Florida for one year. After rejoining the Navy Reserve in July 2019, he was selected as one of only 15 Reservists to be an instructor at Officer Training Command in Newport, Rhode Island where he currently serves. In 2022 Brian was promoted to the rank of Commander.
In his free time Brian is heavily involved with Chalfont VFW Post 3258, is an Adjunct Professor at Villanova University, and works closely with the Office of Veterans and Military Service Members at Villanova.
